New York Red Bull’s Thierry Henry is no Pele

I don’t imagine Thierry Henry will be a popular figure in the New York Red Bulls squad.

Henry’s teammates flew for 10 hours between Vancouver and New York to get badly beaten 4-1.  Rather than help his teammates, Henry chose not to get on the plane.  He stayed home as he has for all matches in Vancouver since 2011, robbing fans in both Vancouver and New York.

The great Pele used to travel with the New York Cosmos everywhere back in the 1970’s.  Pele played on all kinds of surfaces, many of them far worse than Vancouver’s Fieldturf.

Thierry Henry does not have the character and comittment of Pele, clearly.  The Thierry Henry situation is an embarrassment to MLS.  I hope Don Garber is feeling shame right now.
