Just when you think Major League Soccer has grown up…

I could not help but be revolted when I saw the hi lights of the Seattle Sounders and Portland Timbers first leg in the Western Conference semi-final. The match was played with NFL lines on the pitch. It all looked very bush league. Here we have one of the most anticipated pair of playoff matches by fans in MLS and it was an absolute mess to look at.

MLS explained the situation by noting it was too quick a turnaround for the next day’s Seahawks match to have the field painted in a soccer format. Why MLS did not have the game on Friday night to avoid this situation is beyond me.

To make matters worse, I saw the same thing happened in New England. It really was an embarrassment to the MLS which should have been avoided.
