Jay DeMerit’s injury

Has any player better represented the Vancouver Whitecaps in the MLS era better than Jay DeMerit? Even in the darkest days of 2011 and 2012 Jay DeMerit was an inspirational leader. Even when the team has not played well, there was never any doubt that Jay was giving his all for the team and that he richly deserved to be captain. He has played hurt and injured for almost all of the time he has been here. He never flinched however, and always had a smile on his face.

Our captain

Our captain

Today poor Jay went under the surgeon’s knife to repair a ruptured Achilles tendon, one of the most dreaded injuries in football. It was an Achilles tear which ended the brilliant career of Marco Van Basten, one of the finest footballers in world football history. But lets look on the positive side: David Beckham, who I believe was older than Jay, was able to come back from an Achilles injury to play and become a champion again. I believe that Jay can do the same.

While there are those who darkly speculate that Jay’s time with the Whitecaps may be over, I believe otherwise. I believe he will wear the jersey of the Vancouver Whitecaps again, because he has the character to overcome this injury, and because he is such a great asset to our team.

Today is a sad day because our captain is down, but I look forward to the day we give him a standing ovation on his first home match after his injury.

found any interesting article like yours. It is pretty worth enough for me.
In my view, if all website owners and bloggers made good content
as you did, the web will be much more useful than ever before.
