The most heart warming news of the off season came today with the announcement that Gershon Koffie has signed a new contract, and has also gained a foothold in Canada with permanent resident status.

Those of us true football fans used to watch a teenaged Gershon Koffie play at Swangard stadium back in 2010. He was a bit green at first, but he started to find his footballing identity when he became a regular in the 2011 Whitecaps side. In 2012 he became one of the few guys in the team who was almost a certainty to be picked for the starting eleven, and I expect this won’t change in 2013. He is fantastic for our team.

What a guy...

What a guy…

Koffie is superbly fit young man who puts in extra time and effort to keep himself fit. He is set to make a big leap this year in his technical play, and if he can score more goals and work on that final pass he can become a top class midfielder. Now 21, Can you imagine how good Koffie will be when he is 27? Lets hope we get to find out.

Koffie’s temperament and maturity really shines through both on and off the pitch. He truly is a great guy; a credit to our team, our city and now our country. Long may he pull on the jersey of the Vancouver Whitecaps.
