Manchester City wins in greatest show on earth

I only saw little bits of the Manchester City-Queen’s Park Rangers match today, but I received updates on what was going on there while watching the Manchester United-Sunderland match. What an incredibly thrilling finish to this year’s English Premier League. City won the title on goal difference, and scored two goals in injury time at home to win the match 3-2 to get the points they needed to stay level on points with Manchester United.

For City it was their first English Championship since 1968. Their rivals United have won 13 since the Premier League began, in addition to numerous other honours, as City supporters looked on with long faces. It must have seemed hopeless at times. The terrible suffering is over as it was the red half of Manchester who ended up with the long faces today. I must say I have always admired Manchester United and pitied poor City. Today there is no longer any need for pity, and I am glad for City and their fans, who now have something fantastic to celebrate. City fans will not forget this day for the rest of their lives, and I dare say I won’t either.

Congratulations Manchester City! As for the English Premier League: it is simply the greatest show on earth. Nothing can compare to it.
