Atiba Harris gets stuck in!

Atiba Harris has been given a one game suspension for putting his elbow through the brain of Philadelphia Union goon Carlos Valdez.  Good on him I say.  Valdez was the man who put our Atiba out for the season with a nasty tackle early last year. Atiba bravely tried to play on for a few matches but eventually he needed an operation to fix Valdez’ handiwork.  As the saying goes,  what comes around goes around, and as a great philosopher once said, a little revenge is more human than no revenge at all.

Carlos Valdez caused this...

It is nice to see that one of our players other than Eric Hassli has some red blood flowing through his veins and can get nasty.  The Whitecaps need to be a team that is feared, and our big guys should use their size.

Atiba has given the usual contrite statement that he accepts the penalty, but I’ll bet there were a few giggles in the dressing room.

I know he will be missing for a game and this could hurt us, but the whole episode has made me love Atiba Harris all the more.
