Congratulations to the Portland Timbers

As a sporting gesture I want to congratulate the Portland Timbers for their first win in Major League Soccer, which coincided with their first home game at Jeld-Wen Stadium.

As I suspected, the Timbers Army created the best supporters show in the MLS.  What sets the Timbers Army apart is their fantastic organizing ability and coordination, which far exceeds that of our own Southsiders.  The leadership of the Timbers Army are clearly doing a superior job which is unmatched in the league.

We had better send some spies down there to see how they do it because they are doing a better job than we are.  Time to rise to the challenge, Vancouver!

  1. Good piece, to this point in my “on tour” days with the whitecaps Portland is a great place to see the Caps play, from PGE park to Portland University (Last years Playoffs) and now Jeld-Wen Park, which was going sideways the other week , Like you’ve mentioned I also expected Portland to have the strongest support. Anyone who has been to watch the Timbers Play can see the support and passion. On our 3rd trip down there about 5 years ago me and a few of the FB Crew ended up in the Bull Pen ( the second closest pub to then PGE park , the first is “the bitter end”) and we did not pay for a beverage, very hospitable. In Tukwila last month I ran into my pal Ricky who “hooked me up” and I will see him right when they visit the monstrosity we call BC Place in early October. Portland Timbers , proper support , indeed something a bigger percentage of the current attendees at Empire field could take note and duplicate. As long as we give them a good hiding down there and back here in October the Pints will taste way sweeter
