Wesley Charles Has A Go In Montreal

The good news is the Montreal Impact are struggling this season.   Their form has been pitiful, and well below the standard that the Impact set for themselves.   In order to shake things up Montreal has been shedding players and bringing in other players, in an effort to save the situation.  One of the new players they have brought in is Wesley Charles.

As readers of my blog will know, I loved having Wes Charles on our team.  He is a big man with a big heart, and I credit him with being a key player in the 2008 championship win.

Unfortunately for Wes family tragedy struck in 2009 and he struggled on and off the pitch.   Ultimately he was let go mid season after several confrontations with teammates, one of which was a fight with teammate Charles Gbeke on the pitch during a home match.

Charles was given a trial prior to the 2010 season and was the last defender cut, the Whitecaps preferring Mouloud Akloul. Wes hung about Swangard for a while watching matches from the South Side and then disappeared.

As much as I dislike the Impact for their unprincipled approach to football, I hope Wes gets fit and finds a home there.  If they can get him fit and playing, Wes will be a credit to the Impact as he was to the Whitecaps.
