De Rosario Condemns Fieldturf

There is an interesting article in the Globe & Mail concerning De Rosario’s comments about the fieldturf pitch at BMO Field.   He says that he worries about the longevity of his career playing on the stuff.

Fieldturf is tough on the body. Having played on it, I can attest to the sore knees, sore ankles and sore back I get when I play on the stuff.  I hope those involved in the BC Place modifications will consider using real grass. I know it may be a bit of a pipe dream but the Caps should be aware that the demand to get rid of fieldturf in Toronto is large and growing.  As De Rosario says, we have a national soccer stadium but not a national soccer pitch.

I have the feeling that the only way we are going to get a grass field is by getting our own soccer stadium here in Vancouver.
