Whitecaps Goal Festival Continues In Rochester

Rochester 1- Vancouver 3.  It looks as though our hopes for the 2009 season rest on the shoulders of one man: Marlon James.   James has scored four goals in two games.  If we can keep him healthy, we still have a chance at a championship run this year.  Another reason for hope is the form of Tyrell Burgess.  He scored one goal and created another today.   In a year where all of our players seemed to aspire only to the mediocre, we finally have some leaders emerging and some players hitting a purple patch.   Gordon Chin is also staring to show the form that we all hoped he would show.  I am really happy for the little man.  It is nice to see that Ansou Toure also got some minutes tonight after his knee operation.   With this win we have vaulted over Miami and Montreal, and if we win tomorrow against Cleveland (a tall order since it will be our second game in two days) we will be making Rochester uncomfortable.  We have played fewer games than many so there is the chance that we could climb quite high in the table at the end.

It is nice to see that we are scoring goals and playing the attacking Soccer that we want to play.  We have scored 13 goals in the last 5 games.   That is an excellent strike rate.  Teitur must be breathing a sigh of relief after what has been a bit of a disaster in the first half of the year.   August is going to be an exhausting month for the Caps with an incredibly busy fixture list; there will be 9 games if you include July 31st.  Injuries will be inevitable.  Lets pray Marlon James stays healthy.  He is the key to success in the 2009 season .
