Congratulations Burnley!

Yesterday tiny club Burnley made their way into the Premiership by beating Sheffield United at Wembley for the third and final promotion spot into the English Premier League.   Championship sensation Wade Elliot scored beautiful curler that had eyes on it right into the top corner.   I can hardly wait to see him in the Premiership.

Burnley is not one of these yo-yo clubs that goes up and down between the Premiership and the Championship like West Brom and Birmingham City.  Burnley have been out of the top flight for decades.    They were last in the top flight in 1976.  Burnley is just a little town, but clearly one with a big heart, a lot of courage and a lot of ambition, too.  Make no mistake about it, they will be everyone’s favourite to be demoted and to finish in last place in the merciless Premier League.   In any event, it will be refreshing to see a little team have a go in the biggest league in the world.

All the best to Burnley!
