Nolly, Arze and Moose back for 2009

After the bleak announcement that 3 fan favorites would not be returning (Clarke, Kindel, Valente),  good news came in the form of an announcement that Moose, Arze and Nolly will return.

Nolly improved immensely as the season wore on.  He was brave, determined and solid as a rock.  I can’t recall any errors which cost the Caps goals all of this year.  He will only get better, as goalkeepers improve with age.  Mike Salmon will hopefully be around to coach him next year. they obviously make a good team together.

The Bolivian Arze had a mixed year and mostly came on as a sub.  His ball distribution as a midfielder will have to improve because the modern game is not about dribbling, but moving the ball fast on the ground.  I hope he will have a break out year and prove himself as a starter.  I think he has great team spirit.  Though he did not feature in the playoffs to any great extent, he looked as happy as anyone that the team had won the championship.  He is the player of these three who really needs to step up and prove himself.

The Pick of them all is Justin Moose however.  Already a fan favorite, he looks to me to be a key player for the Caps for the next two seasons at least.  He has demonstrated that he can be our replacement for Joey Gertson.  This wee man knows no fear and gives total effort and commitment.  He made the goal that won us the final with a superb cross to Gbeke.  He is the man to watch on the pitch for excitement in years to come if he can stay injury free.  Perhaps he should be a bit less reckless in flinging himself about out there.  This will come with maturity.

Good signings all!
