Aquilini and Burnaby Mayor Corrigan in a separate bid?

I can only say I hope not.  Greg Kerfoot is the man who has saved the Vancouver Whitecaps, put them back on their feet again, and has taken the club forward with his great vision and with his huge investments in club infrastructure.

I can’t say that I am impressed with Aquilini.  As owner of the Canucks he is probably keen to copy the business model of Toronto FC, which is owned by the same group as the Toronto Maple Leafs.   He probably hopes to emulate that very successful model here in the Lower Mainland.  As far as I am concerned Aquilini should either play a supportive role in Kerfoot’s group  or not put a bid in at all.  He is a Johnny-come-lately who was nowhere to be found when the Caps were in trouble back in 2002.

As for Mayor of Burnaby Corrigan, I do not have faith in the man who fumbled the ball with the Olympic Speed skating track when he lost it to Richmond.

Kerfoot has said he will funnel any profits from the Whitecaps back into BC Soccer.  I don’t hear Aquilini saying such things…

Aquilini should support Kerfoot’s bid or get out of the way.
