Aside from the fact that we won the game, there is much to be happy about the Canadian Championship that the game is a part of.   A number of years ago the thought of a Canadian championship was just a fantasy.  Two of the three teams now have new stadia.  We have yet to secure our stadium in Vancouver but no doubt it would be full for such a match were it there.   Previously when Vancouver visited the Toronto Lynx if the crowd was 2000 people it would have been normal.  There were 18,000 fans a BMO field for the Canada Day game.  Why?  Because TFC are in a league which soccer fans in T.O. recognize as worth showing up for in a stadium that is worth sitting in.    Toronto FC has momentum and soccer fans have embraced the team.

If Vancouver was in the league we would eclipse Toronto for attendance, just as we did in the old days of the NASL.

The fact that we beat Toronto was great, but the event itself was bigger than who won or lost.  The game represented the rise of Canadian soccer to a level it has not seen in many years.
