Whitecaps 0 Timbers 0

Another lovely day at Swangard, another barren draw for the Caps.  This game illustrated the problems we have had this year: a great effort by the players, few chances created and no goals!  To be fair, we were very unlucky not to score and a goal post and a crossbar denied us.  Near the end of the game we had a mad scramble in front of the Portland goal where we defied logic and the laws of physics in not scoring a goal.   We have the third worst goals for in the league… and we have drawn the league’s stingiest defence in the first round of the playoffs.   We stood up well to Portland, though, and we certainly were a match for them.   Will they field a better team on Friday or Sunday?  We shall see.  We had better do well at home on Friday or our goose will be cooked back in Portland on Sunday.  Lets pray we get the scoring touch which has eluded us practically all year.  I missed the only game in which we scored multiple goals: a 3-1 home win against Rochester.  I was in Las Vegas!!!   This is the worst year in recent history for our team, but lets hope we save the year with a decent playoff run.  It is still up for grabs if we want it!
