Another lovely night in the Southside for the match with Minnesota.   Minnesota had played the night before and looked only to close the door.  Poor Tony Caig looked very bored.  We lost the toss so we had to watch the Caps attack towards us in the first half.  They really tried to go in for the killl but the Minnesota keeper Platter played a blinder and stopped the Caps at every turn with some great saves.  He seemed to be spurred on by the Southsider’s criticism of his Mullet!!! I wonder what happened to Joe Warren, the keeper we have been seeing for years for Minny.   I imagine he has lost his spot because Platter stopped everything coming in the first half.

The Caps had five or six good chances and hit the post on one occasion.   Like the previous few games we have seen, the Caps were looking a bit frustrated by their lack of luck in front of goal.

The Caps finally scored in the middle of the second half with Donatelli taking a ball from Gertson and doing a quick release shot in to the far corner from the left side of goal.  Not even Platter could stop this and Minnesota gave up so many chances that a clean sheet was too much to ask.

I thought Valente really played well in this match, which is nice to see because his form has been average for a while.  Stevie Kindel played a great game and hit more than 20,000 hours for the Caps.  He nearly took a Minnesota players face off with his boot in the first half, true to form.  Bailey needs to go up for the headers with a bit more confidence in front of goal.  Overall not a great performance by the Caps, and their form is a bit disappointing this year.  I had hoped that they would really play well in the wake of their championship last year but their form has been a bit indifferent.  Lets see what a bit of a break will do for them.
